Alan Fox, DVM
Dr. Fox joined the Westside team in 1996 and has been the hospital administrator since 2006. Dr. Fox received his undergraduate degree in biology in 1992 from Purdue University and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Purdue in 1996. He is president of the Fort Wayne Veterinary Medical Association; the association helps foster communication and sharing of ideas among all Fort Wayne veterinarians. In his free time, Dr. Fox likes to travel and spend time outdoors. He especially enjoys downhill skiing, cooking, hiking, biking, landscaping, rollerblading, and is an active member of First Wayne Street United Methodist Church.
Dr. Fox's professional interests include internal medicine, dentistry, and soft tissue surgery; he also takes special interest in spending time with clients and in educating them how to best care for their pets. He enjoys heading the management team at Westside and constantly strives to be a positive, leading model for the entire Westside team.
Abigail Trapp, DVM
Dr. Trapp is originally from Kokomo, Indiana, where her love for animals first began with her family's horses. She attended Purdue University as an undergraduate studying Animal Sciences. Before heading to veterinary school, she met her husband, Scott. Together they graduated from Purdue's School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. Dr. Trapp then began her veterinary career at Westside Animal Hospital.
Dr. Trapp is interested in internal medicine, particularly feline medicine, as well as dentistry. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son as well as horseback riding, outdoor activities, and taking care of the animals on their small hobby farm.
Janet Houghton, DVM
Dr. Houghton grew up in Huntington, Indiana. After graduating from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine, she worked in Miami, Florida, for 5 years at a surgical referral hospital before returning to Huntington to start her own small animal hospital. While practicing in Huntington for 25 years, she served in many community service leadership roles including Chairman of the Board of the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce, United Way Campaign Chairman for Huntington County, and President of the Huntington County Humane Society. She has also served as a president of the Northeast Indiana Veterinary Medical Association and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Houghton’s area of special interest is dentistry. She is a member of the Foundation for Veterinary Dentistry, a group that is passionate about veterinary dentistry and educating about oral health in animals.
Not ever having had children, her pets have served in that role. She is married to attorney, Theodore Bendall, and together they enjoy travel, theater, golf, and entertaining.
